Misdiagnosed is a lifestyle brand for eczema prone and dry skin conditions which was founded by someone living with chronic eczema. The Misdiagnosed products are a combination of oral supplements and topical applications created to compliment the lifestyle of those living with eczema prone and dry skin conditions seeking relief products that are cortisone and steroid free. The products provide anti-inflammatory and deep moisturizing effects as well as an immune boost. Given that eczema is not curable, the products are designed to work alongside a healthy lifestyle which includes the avoidance of known triggers.
The founder of Misdiagnosed, Dr. Pontsho B. Mokoena (EDBA), is a South African Risk & Insurance Executive and Academic Researcher who was diagnosed with chronic eczema when she was 3 years old. She was advised by healthcare practitioners that she would eventually outgrow it, which didn’t happen, and she had to manage it into her adulthood with a big reliance on topical corticosteroids which ultimately thinned her skin and caused secondary skin conditions. In 2022, following the worst eczema flare up to date on her face, using her extensive research background, she created the Misdiagnosed products. She believes in infusing science with research, which are the founding principles of Misdiagnosed.
